iPad Tips & Tricks

On Tuesday June 18 from 5pm- 7pm the PCC is happy to host a special workshop on iPad tips and tricks.

Are you interested in extending the usefulness of your iPad? Bring it to this hands-on workshop, and learn 30 useful tips and tricks. Included will be tips for customizing your settings, using shortcuts and working with photos. Please be aware that you will use your personal iPad for the workshop, and should already be familiar with its basic usage.

Digitized old Endicott-area newspapers now available!

GFJ has started digitizing parts of its collections. We started with old local newspapers, a treasure trove of local history and genealogy. The collection will eventually be expanded, but 1855-1915 issues are now available at:

No foolin’: GFJ’s own Sara-Jo Sites has three, count ‘em, three book reviews published in the April 1, 2013 issue of School Library Journal, with our library name below hers on the byline. SLJ is a major library publication and widely read by the national library community; featuring professional articles as well as reviews libraries rely on to decide what books to buy. Money Smart Week @ the GFJ Library

Money Smart Week^® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Organizations come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week. Programming is offered to all demographics and income levels and covers all facets of personal finance from establishing a budget to first time home buying to estate planning.

On Thursday April 25, the GFJ Library will
present two free programs:

First Time Home Buying – 10:30-12:00 in the upstairs meeting room. Join us for an overview of the home buying process from start to finish. Presenters will be Helen Ackerman from Hage Real Estate, with over 10 years in the Real Estate business and John Birkmier from SEFCU Mortgage Services, with over 20 years in the Mortgage field. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the session.

Save Energy, Save Dollars Workshop – 1PM – 3PM in the upstairs meeting room.
Presenter: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, Paul Suarez.
Learn about low-cost and no-cost ways to save energy and reduce your energy bills. Also learn about programs that can help you afford energy-efficiency improvements with subsidies, low-interest loans, or FREE services to qualifying households. Participants receive a free gift for attending.

Digital Photography Class

The Two Rivers Photography Club will be returning to the PCC with two classes on digital photography!

On May 22 and May 23, from 6pm- 8pm, join us for workshops on using point and shoot type digital cameras. Participants will need to bring their own cameras and manuals, and to make sure all batteries are fully charged. Attendance at both workshops is expected.

On May 29 and May 30th, from 6pm- 8pm, join us for workshops on editing digital photos. Participants will need to possess a working knowledge of basic computer use. attendance at both workshops is expected

Registration is required for both workshops and space is limited. Please call the PCC at 607-757-5359 to register. If leaving a message, please leave your name and phone number. Please no repeat registrations- if you have already taken these workshops, please do come in during open hours to continue to build on skills learned.
