Our community is experiencing a unique and unprecedented public health challenge that demands a reexamination of our regular daily routines and activities. George F. Johnson Memorial Library identifies the health and well-being of our patrons and staff as our ultimate priority, and we have examined all prudent and precautionary actions to best mitigate the community spread of COVID-19. We have intentionally made the decision to take a phased approach to our response. A phased approach will best enable us to respond quickly and safely to the unpredictable virus situation that is changing by the day.
The library will close for a two week period (Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29). During this period of time the George F. Johnson Memorial Library Board of Trustees and staff will work together to identify the best strategies for continuing to provide the highest possible level of service to our patrons. We have many online services that will continue to be available (http://www.gfjlibrary.org/databases/), and we are seeking to identify new and creative ways to safely deliver additional services that are unavailable while our physical building is closed.
After the two week closure, we will reassess the situation to determine whether additional action can be taken. The George F. Johnson Memorial Library staff will continue to strive for alternate ways to deliver services as the changing public health situation evolves and we will do all we can to best meet the needs of our patrons and community. Please check the library website and social media accounts for updates and information.
