Looking for help getting started on READsquared? You’ve come to the right place!

Please note that these instructions are for the children’s summer reading program. The instructions for the teen and adult programs are similar, but you can call the library at (607)757-5350 if you need further assistance.

With your READsquared account, you can choose to use either the website or the app at anytime!


Using READsquared Online

These instructions are for using the READsquared website. See the next section below for app instructions.

Registering for the first time:
  1. Go to gfjlibraryny09.readsquared.com.
  2. Scroll down until you see “Don’t have an account?” on the right side of the page. Click “Register Now” to begin.
  3. Select your child’s age/grade and “Kid’s Oceans of Possibilities” from the drop down boxes. Click “Continue”.
  4. Enter your child’s first and last name, a family email address, and create a username and password for your child’s account. Then click “Continue”.
  5. You’re all set! This will bring you to your child’s dashboard.

* Please note that if you have more than one child participating in the summer reading program, they will each need to have their own account with different names and usernames. However, you can use the same email address and password for multiple accounts.

Logging Minutes Read:
  • If you are not already on your READsquared dashboard, log in by going to gfjlibraryny09.readsquared.com and entering the username and password on the right side of the page. This will bring you to the dashboard.
  • To log minutes read, click “Logging” on the top left side of the page.
  • Then click “Log Reading” in the center of the page.
  • In the box that appears, you only need to enter the number of minutes read. Do not enter book titles or authors. Then click “Submit” to save your minutes.
  • To return to your dashboard, click “Home” on the top left. This will tell you how many points/minutes you have so far and show you the badges you have earned.
Completing Missions:

There will be six missions throughout the summer reading program. Submitting each mission on time will enter the child in a drawing to win a prize.

  • Again, you will begin on your READsquared dashboard. If necessary, log in by going to gfjlibraryny09.readsquared.com and entering the username and password on the right side of the page. This will bring you to the dashboard.
  • Click “Missions” on the top left side of the page.
  • This will show you all of the missions. Click on the name of the mission to get started.
  • You can leave your dashboard to complete any of the mission activities offline. When this is done, return to this page and click “Complete Now.”
  • Enter the appropriate information and click “Complete Activity” to earn a badge for your mission and be entered to win your prize.

* You can work on any mission at any time throughout the summer. However, you must submit each completed mission by the noted date to be entered in the special prize drawing.


Using the READsquared App

Begin by downloading the free READsquared app from your app store. This is available for both iOS and Android devices.

Registering for the first time:
  1. Begin typing “George F. Johnson Memorial Library, NY” in the “Find your library or school…” box and select the library when it comes up. Click “Continue.”
  2. Click the “Register” box.
  3. Select your child’s age/grade and “Kid’s Oceans of Possibilities” from the drop down boxes and click “Continue”.
  4. Enter your child’s first and last name, a family email address, and select a username and password for your child’s account. Then click “Continue”.
  5. You’re all set! This will bring you to your child’s dashboard.

* Please note that if you have more than one child participating in the summer reading program, they will each need to have their own account with different names and usernames. However, you can use the same email address and password for multiple accounts.

  2. To log minutes read, click the yellow arrow on the top left of the page to open the sidebar menu. Then click “Logging” on the menu.
  3. Click “Log Reading” in the center of the page.
  4. In the box that appears, you only need to enter the number of minutes read. Do not enter book titles or authors. Then click “Submit” to save your minutes.

* If you have more than one child participating and would like to switch between their accounts on the app, click the three lines for the menu. You can then “Add Account” or “Show Accounts” to register or view the dashboard for another child or yourself!
