Virtual Class FAQs

How do I join a class?
Visit tinyurl.com/GFJTC-class at the time of the class and join the room. You can also find this link on the Tech Center webpage near the listing of classes. Once you click the link fill out the Google Form with your email and click submit. You will then be given the Zoom login information for the class. Once you click the class link or typed in the class information into your APP, you’ll be prompted to launch Zoom. If you have Zoom Client or Zoom App you will be able to launch immediately, if not, you can download Zoom Client or click “Join from your browser”. You’ll then add your name and answer the verifying question and click Join. Once in the waiting room the instructor will let you into the class.

What are the run-times for the classes?
Virtual classes last between 45 minutes and 2 hours. Most classes last less than 1 hour 30 minutes.

Do I need special software to view on my computer or tablet?
Maybe. You may be prompted to download Zoom Client or the Zoom App, but you can click on “Join from your browser” to join Zoom using your preferred browser. Once in Zoom you can ask questions via the chat window as needed. But if you’d just like to sit back and watch the presentation, you can do that too.

How will I be able to communicate with the teacher? Do I need a device with a microphone?
You can communicate with the teacher via a chat screen. If your chat screen does not appear automatically, on the bottom of your zoom screen click the chat box option to open it. It can be closed and opened by clicking on that chat box option on your zoom bar at the bottom of your screen.

How do I use the chat feature?
To ask a question, all you need to do is click inside of the text box at the bottom of the chat screen, type your question and then click “enter” or “return” on your keyboard. To hide the chat window, you can click on that chat box option on your zoom bar at the bottom of your screen. This is what you will click to open up the chat window if you need it again.
