Register for a two-month book box subscription to pick up during the beginning of July and August! Fill out a reading interest form, and our YA librarian will hand-pick two library books for you to borrow. Your box will also be filled with themed swag to keep! Register here!
Teen CCE Owl Pellets
July 7 @ 2 pm – Join CCE Broome Nature Educator Carolyn Klein to learn about owl pellets and try your hand at dissecting a sterilized pellet! We will discuss barn owl ecology and learn about the owl digestive system. Everyone will get a chance to use a microscope and bone identification charts to determine the specific animals that were eaten by our owls. Registration is required here.
Jurassic Era Terrariums
July 8 @ 2 pm – Join us for a moss-some time! We’ll be in our Jurassic era, planting our own self-sufficient ecosystems for the dinosaurs. Registration is required here.
Teen Dungeons & Dragons Mini-Campaign
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned adventurer, join our talented DMs for a three-session long mini-campaign. Sessions are on Mondays 7/13, 7/20, and 7/27 and run from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Registration is required here and attendance at all three sessions is highly encouraged.
Boba Paint and Sip
July 15 @ 2 pm – Drink boba tea while Emily Kniffen from Artistry by Emily leads you in completing a painting! Registration is required here.
Mario Kart Tournament
July 16 @ 5:30 pm – Battle your friends to be crowned champion in our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournament! Brackets will be created, and participants will compete in at least two races. Snacks, additional Switch games, board games, and other activities will also be available during the competition. Prizes will be awarded to participants who rank in the top three of the tournament! Teen Book Club
We’ll meet and discuss two young adult books – They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera and Internment by Samira Ahmed. Copies of the book can be provided ahead of time at the Youth Services Information desk if needed. Meetings are on July 21 and August 11 at 2 pm. Teen Chalk Art
July 22 @ 6pm – Learn how to create and scale your own drawings using chalk on the library’s concourse with artist Eric Maruscak! Registration is required here.
Teen Sprayed Edges
August 4 @ 2 pm – Paint your own custom book sprayed edges! Bring a favorite book or use one we provide and create a beautiful addition to your shelf, or a thoughtful handmade gift for a friend. Emiily Kniffen from Artistry by Emily will guide you through the basics of transforming plain page edges into colorful, custom designs with paint. Registration is required here.
Teen Crochet
August 13 @ 6 pm – Are you interested in learning how to crochet, but don’t know how to start? Attend our class for absolute beginners! All supplies will be provided. Registration is required here.
