We are delighted to announce that Amazon’s “Kindle” e-reader can now be used to read books downloaded from GFJ’s “Overdrive” service. Click on the “Download Overdrive” icon at www.gfjlibrary.org and start reading. The collection is growing at a rate of about 40 titles per month.

The May meeting of the Library Board of Trustees has been rescheduled from May 14 to May 7, at 7 PM.
The library is looking for a part-time employee to clean the library. Duties include vacuuming, dusting, cleaning restrooms, light snow shoveling. Fifteen to nineteen hours per week with alternating Saturdays, early morning shifts 6 to 10 AM or 7 to 11 AM. Pay is $8.50 per hour. Position is 3-month temporary, possible permanent appointment. There will be a special meeting of the GFJ Library Board of Trustees on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:30 PM to interview board candidates. The regular January 19 monthly meeting will begin at 6:30 instead of 7:00 in order to interview another candidate. The regular meeting on the 19th will follow immediately at 7 PM.
Community Foundation for South Central New York – Broome Library Foundation’s Diane Brown and Laura Knochen-Davis present a $1250 award to GFJ Library Director, Ed Dunscombe and Village of Endicott Grantwriter Beth Putrino to digitize local newspapers from the 1930’s, as a part of GFJ’s Digital Archives Project.

Congratulations. Like your library, I’m sure, We have had many excited patrons come to the RCS Community Library for help with downloading library eBooks to their Kindles. They love the saved bookmarks that remain if they later checkout the books again or buy them later. We are happy to accomodate more devices and more reading.
