GFJ will host a formal opening of its Public Computing Center (PCC) on Thursday, April 28 at 1 PM. GFJ has started digitizing parts of its collections. We started with old local newspapers, a treasure trove of local history and genealogy. The collection will eventually be expanded, but 1855-1915 issues are now available at: www.endicott.advantage-preservation.com
Community Foundation for South Central New York – Broome Library Foundation’s Diane Brown and Laura Knochen-Davis present a $1250 award to GFJ Library Director, Ed Dunscombe and Village of Endicott Grantwriter Beth Putrino to digitize local newspapers from the 1930’s, as a part of GFJ’s Digital Archives Project.
Despite a miserable economy, the March 15, 2010 issue of Library Journal reports that 84% of library funding referenda passed in 2009. For New York State, the figure was 100%.
